Stephen Priest has been appointed as the new principal of Repton Cairo.
Mr Priest, who has spent the last seven years as principal of the British International School of Tbilisi, Georgia, will take up the post in August this year, taking over from Simon O’Malley, who is returning to the UK.
Originally from the UK, Mr Priest has extensive experience of international education. Prior to Georgia, he worked in Berlin and Kathmandu, as well as the United Kingdom.
Alongside his role as principal of BIST, he is also chair of the Black Sea Schools Group, and is lead improvement partner for the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).
During his time in Tbilisi, Mr Priest improved academic outcomes, introduced a new co-curricular programme, and steered the school through two successful accreditation inspections.
He also led the introduction of National Professional Qualifications for middle and senior leaders across schools in the Black Sea region.
Mr Priest said: “I am thrilled to be joining Repton Cairo as your new principal. It will be an honour to lead and serve such a dynamic school community.
“My wife, Tumika, and our son, Tristan, (aged 13), are also excited about joining the Repton Cairo family. Tumika is eager to engage with the parental community and Tristan is looking forward to making new friends and embracing all the opportunities Repton Cairo has to offer.
“I look forward to getting to know everyone in the Repton Cairo community and the wider Repton Family.”
In a post on LinkedIn, Repton Cairo said it was “delighted” to announce the appointment.
“We look forward to working with Mr Priest and are certain his vision will benefit our Repton Cairo community as we continue to develop and grow the school.”
