Dr Daniel Koch has been appointed as the permanent headmaster of Loughborough Grammar School, and will take up his post at the start of the autumn term in 2022.
Daniel will take over the role from Dr Christopher Barnett, who has been serving as interim head since September 2021.
A keen sportsman, author and University of Oxford alumnus, Daniel will be leaving the role of senior deputy head (vice master) at Bedford School. Earlier in his career he was head of sixth form at South Hampstead High School in London and head of history at Worth School in West Sussex.
Commenting on his new role, Daniel said: “I’m delighted to be joining such an excellent school, with an outstanding history and an exciting future ahead. I have a real passion for education, for supporting pupils to progress academically and to develop and grow into confident, caring adults who will have a positive impact on the future.
“My family and I are proud to know that I will be playing a part in what lies ahead for Loughborough Grammar School.”
To match the ambitions of the wider school’s ethos, Daniel is committed to the academic attainment and intellectual development of his pupils, having formerly introduced a number of innovative curriculum-based programmes to drive development in his previous roles.
Trevor Soar, chair of governors at Loughborough Schools Foundation, added: “Dr Koch will make a brilliant addition to the Loughborough Schools Foundation family and I have no doubt that his experience and passion for education will shine through.”
Loughborough Grammar School was founded in 1495 and is one of four schools in the Loughborough Schools Foundation, alongside Loughborough High School, Loughborough Amherst School and Fairfield Prep School.
