Richard Backhouse sits down with Dr Helen Wright where he outlines the HMC’s current agenda supporting schools and mulls the challenges posed by a wide range of issues, from young people’s mental health to recruitment of staff.
Richard Backhouse, who is headmaster of Berkhamsted School, underlines the importance of “promoting cultures that are attractive to come and work in” and are “diverse and inclusive communities” and responding appropriately to the Black Lives Matter movement and the Everyone’s Invited outcry.
He touches on the major challenges faced by the sector including affordability, genuine inclusion and curriculum and assessment.
He then looks to the future for what might be on the horizon for schools.
