Simon Burbury has started as the new Master at Marlborough College Malaysia, stepping into the shoes of Alan Stevens.
Mr Burbury previously served as assistant then deputy rector during an eight-year stint at Dollar Academy in Scotland. Prior to that, he was director of music for Gordonstoun Schools Ltd, Tanglin Trust School in Singapore and the Modern English School in Cairo.
Simon was educated at Lancaster Royal Grammar School before gaining a BA in music performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, a Master’s degree in music from Lancaster University and his teaching qualification from Homerton College, Cambridge.
He is a Fellow of the RSA, a keen dinghy sailing instructor, diver and runner.
On starting his new role, Mr Burbury wrote: “I am very excited and honoured to begin my time as the new Master of Marlborough College Malaysia. Out for an early morning jog around the grounds this morning, in awe of the stunning facilities. I can’t wait to see these outstanding resources buzzing with children when the new term begins.”
Mr Stevens said he was “looking forward to the next adventure” which would be related to education, but allow him to be closer to his family.
