Fiona Boulton, executive head of Guildford High School and former chair of the HMC, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list for services to education.
Mrs Boulton, who is also now interim director of independent schools at schools group United Learning, has been executive head at Guildford High since September 2022. She was headmistress from 2002 to 2022, and deputy head for five years prior to that.
Mrs Boulton was named among a number of other school leaders for their services to education, largely in the state sector.
According to the Guildford High website, Mrs Boulton is currently a member of the state-funded Learning Partners Academy Trust and a member of the governing body of St Ives Prep School and Epsom College.
She is an associate director of the University of Cumbria in addition to being part of the Ofqual Advisory Group and the Pearson Advisory Group.
She held the role of chair of the HMC from 2019 to 2020 and was an advisory board member of the Institute for Ethical Artificial Intelligence in Education from 2019 to 2021.
She is on the advisory board of the new charity, School Partnerships Alliance (SPA), which will focus on promoting the best partnership practice across both state and independent education sectors.
