St George’s International School in Luxembourg has announced the appointment of a new principal, Zeba Clarke.
Ms Clarke, who is currently deputy head of St Paul’s School in São Paulo, Brazil, will join the school from August 2024.
Prior to working in Brazil, she was deputy head academic at King Edward’s Witley and head of English at King William’s College in the Isle of Man.
She also worked as coordinator for mother tongue at the European School Brussels 2 and spent three years as director of drama at Hurstpierpoint College.
She takes over from Christian Barkei, the school’s first principal, who has been in the role for 11 years.
She wrote on LinkedIn: “Whilst I am going to miss my wonderful colleagues and the enthusiastic, energetic students at St Paul’s, I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the community at St George’s. It has been a great privilege to live in Brazil and to work at a vibrant school like St Paul’s, the best possible professional development for moving to another exciting and welcoming school.”
St George’s, which started with just 12 pupils in a small rented school building, now has over 850 students representing more than 70 countries in purpose-built accommodation.
Set up in 1990, it set out to provide British primary education in Luxembourg but became a flourishing international school.
