Student registration has opened for a new independent performing arts school in London, Wetherby Arts School.
The school, owned by the Alpha Plus Group, is due to open as part of the newly re-developed London Olympia in 2025.
The school in Kensington will offer academic and performing arts education, including art, drama, design, music and digital media.
Classrooms will be equipped for hybrid teaching and learning – enabling students to attend lessons either on-site or remotely, in order to create a “flexible and inclusive educational environment”.
The school has worked closed with the famed BRIT school in Croydon to develop the facilities, which will include a 200-seat theatre, studio spaces and other specialist rooms.
The BRIT School’s BRIT Kids programme will be able to access the facilities around school hours and weekends.
Alpha Plus Group will finance 12 bursaries and 22 scholarships. Half of these opportunities will be reserved for pupils from Hammersmith and Fulham, ensuring that talented students have the chance to excel, regardless of their background.
Mark Hanley-Browne, CEO at Alpha Plus Group said “This is a hugely exciting project for Alpha Plus and the BRIT school. In our own schools we have seen, at first hand, how music, art, design, drama and dance enhance educational excellence and help children to grow and develop through self-expression.
“Alpha Plus prides itself on providing excellence in learning across all key subjects, and providing the Gold Standard in education, and we are fully committed to bringing these unique, life changing opportunities to the children of Hammersmith and Fulham, with our partners The BRIT School.”
Prospective students and their families are invited to visit the Wetherby Arts School website for more information and to complete the registration process starting from June 1, 2023.
