Horris Hill prep in Hampshire has announced the appointment of a new headmaster, Rob Stewart.
Stewart, who has more than 23 years’ experience in independent education, will join Horris Hill from the Oratory Prep School where he has been headmaster for almost six years.
After graduating from Durham University, Stewart gained a Master’s degree from King’s College London. His career in education then began at Ampleforth College, as assistant housemaster, followed by 16 years at Eton College, initially as divinity master and later becoming housemaster of Cotton Hall House.
Stewart joins Horris Hill along with his wife, Sam, and three children, Katie, age 14, Izzie, age 13 and Tom, age 8.
A statement on the school website said: “We have great confidence that Rob will provide strong leadership, whilst recognising the ethos of Horris Hill. “We have an ambitious vision for the future of the school and having Rob on board to help shape our future makes those plans all the more exciting.”
Horris Hill was acquired by school investment and advisory business Forfar Education last summer.
Forfar Education unveiled extensive refurbishment plans for the school, including new STEM and art facilities, an adventure playground and an outdoor forest school.
The school is also due to begin admitting girls this September.
