All of us at the Global School Alliance are proud and privileged to be reflecting on our five years of working with schools and educators across the UK and globally.
They have been five years that have encompassed both great challenge but also great opportunities for schools to instil a global dimension into the learning experiences of their young people.
All of our activities stem from a keen passion to encourage and develop wide, diverse and impactful global collaboration and communication.
Indeed, our founder and CEO was one of the first students in the UK to undertake Mandarin A-level which led to a lifelong love of China its society, language, education and culture.
This ignited a commitment to developing school partnerships between China and the UK to break down stereotypes and further engagement, trust and understanding.
Since then, the Global School Alliance now works in over 115 countries and with over 10,000 educators with a wide array of different school types.
“Our shared future depends on people of different cultures working together.”
Over our five years we have all been hugely impressed by the range, depth and quality of the activities being undertaken to build engagement and trust between peoples of different cultures, beliefs and experiences.
Schools and educators across the globe are key to bridging divides, to act as the first building blocks of understanding between people of different cultures through the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
At a time of pressing global issues this could not be more true. Our shared future depends on people of different cultures working together on strong foundations of education, mutual understanding, respect and trust.
The Global School Alliance supports these aims through its wide network of global educators and our hugely valued School Ambassadors; all committed to sharing, exchanging and celebrating best educational practice in the classroom.
There are also global projects around the Sustainable Development Goals, recognising and encouraging global work with our inclusive Global School Awards and bringing our global community together through our monthly webinars.
It is this shared commitment to creative and innovative thinking which enables both students and educators to work together and to collaborate on a range of global issues.
None of our work at the Global School Alliance would be possible without inspirational globally-minded educators; you are the most important people in the world; key participants in that shared conversation of humankind that unites us all daily.
At the Global School Alliance we encourage and celebrate global engagement because it enriches our lives and experiences and we thank educators everywhere for your inspirational insights and support over five years.
We greatly look forward to our next five years working with you and thank each and every one of you to make this possible.
To mark this special year, we are delighted to invite educators to our celebratory event in the city of Liverpool on Friday 17 May 2024.
