Richard Harman, former head of Uppingham School and now chief executive of AGBIS, explains the origins and role of the governors’ organisation and speaks about the many challenges for school governance in the past year.
He explains how he hopes to extend the reach of the organisation through a series of good governance webinars and interacting far more with other independent sector associations.
He also touches on his hopes for AGBIS to support governance at British-style international schools, but he admits there is no simple formula for this given the many different local contexts.
