Tom Butt has been appointed to succeed Jennie Phillips as the head of King’s Hawford, a prep school near Worcester.
A statement from the school’s governors said that Tom “particularly impressed everyone with his outstanding track record, passion for the holistic and nurturing education we offer, and his understanding of the outdoor provision for which Hawford is famed.”
He will join King’s Hawford in November, at the start of the second half of term.
Tom was educated at The Judd School in Kent before reading exercise and sport sciences at the University of Exeter, where he also studied for his PGCE.
He is currently deputy head at Bredon School near Tewkesbury. Prior to that he was director of sport at Dover College and held posts in Chile and Switzerland.
Tom is a keen sportsman with a particular passion for rugby – captaining Kent at age group level – and mountain biking.
The governors at King’s Hawford said Tom is “Passionate about the outdoors, he is a smallholder in his own right, enjoys travel and country pursuits, and is very much looking forward to being the new custodian of Hawford’s animals.”
