Padworth College in Berkshire has announced the appointment of a new principal.
After seven years of leadership at Inspiring Futures Education, including three years at Padworth College, Lorraine Atkins is stepping down from headship and is being replaced by Crispin Dawson as Padworth’s new principal.
Crispin has taught for more than 22 years in state, independent and international schools, including more than 20 years of experience in boarding schools. He is passionate about leading a school community and influencing and creating an outstanding environment for students to learn and thrive as young people.
Crispin was a senior housemaster at Oakham School from 2000 to 2013, before moving to Cheltenham College, where he was senior deputy head and acting head for a short period. In January 2021, he moved to Muscat, Oman to take on a new role as founding principal of Cheltenham Muscat. Additionally, Crispin is a boarding inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate and holds an MEd in Educational Leadership from the University of Buckingham. Crispin is married and has three children who attend boarding school in the UK.
Whilst Crispin will formally commence his new role in August 2022, he has plans to visit Padworth on a number of occasions over the coming months to ensure a smooth handover with Lorraine.
Lorraine will be joining the Boarding Schools’ Association in summer 2022 as director of engagement, supporting members across BSA, Sacpa, BAISIS and Hieda.
