Andrew De Silva will be the new head of The Oratory Prep School in Goring Heath, Bellevue Education has announced.
De Silva is currently head of the Junior School at St Edmund’s School in Canterbury, and will start at The Oratory Prep School in September.
A story on the Catholic school’s website said: “Andrew brings with him a wealth of experience, honing his skills through headships in both the state maintained and independent sectors, in addition to a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management and the NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship).
“Mr De Silva is hugely enthusiastic about working with the talented staff team at The Oratory Prep School, and indeed the wider school family.”
In a LinkedIn post announcing his move, De Silva said: “Incredibly excited to announce that I will be joining The Oratory Prep School as head in September. This is a very exciting chapter, and I am passionate about continuing to develop this excellent school and working with all stakeholders, including Bellevue Education.
“Huge thank you to all at St Edmund’s School Canterbury for their support and friendship over the past few years. It has been a real privilege to lead the Junior School and to work so closely with colleagues throughout the whole 2-18 school. As the choir school for the boy choristers, I am also thankful to all at Canterbury Cathedral for providing such excellent choral worship.”
De Silva will be joined at The Oratory Prep School by his family: his wife Nicola, who works as an IT professional, and their two children.
Rob Stewart, current headmaster at The Oratory Prep School said: “I am thrilled that I will be succeeded by a head who shares the vision and ambition of our founder, St. John Henry Newman, to develop the character, skills and values of all the pupils and inspire them to make a difference in the world.”
