Haileybury School and its local partners have launched Haileybury Bhaluka, thought to be the first British boarding school franchise in Bangladesh.
The project is a joint venture between Best Holding’s sister concern, Best Services Limited and Haileybury, UK.
The school will house up to 1000 students with state of the art facilities for modern learning, the school says.
It will serve boys aged 11 to 18, aiming to offer an alternative for parents who do want to send their children to boarding school overseas.
The school is situated on an 850-acres campus within the Dhamshur Economic Zone, 75Kms North of Dhaka.
The school was launched on October 15 at the Le Meridien hotel in Dhaka. Youth and sports minister Zahid Ahsan Russel MP and other VIPs joined Martin Collier, the master of Haileybury UK, for the launch ceremony.
The founding master of Haileybury Bhaluka, Simon O’Grady, also used the occasion to share his vision for the school.
The school will start its academic programme in August 2023 and admissions begin in January.
Haileybury UK already has a number of overseas campuses, including two in Kazakhstan and plans for a branch in Malta, opening in September 2023.
A fifth partner school is expected to open in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2025.
