Twenty-two independent schools have participated in the Open Division of the Schools & Universities Polo Association (SUPA) Senior Schools National Championships.
The one-day event, held at Cirencester Park Polo Club on 19th June, was devised to celebrate polo’s grassroots talent. It brought together students from Ampleforth College, Cheltenham College, Heathfield School, Harrow School, Holyport College, Kilgraston School, Lymm High School, Merchiston Castle School, Millfield School, Radley College, Rugby School, Sherborne Boys School, Sherborne Girls School, Solihull School, Stowe School, Wellington College and others to compete across five divisions.
The winning teams – Cheltenham College (Open Final), Stowe School (Open Subsidiary Final), Rugby School (Open 2), Marlborough White (Intermediate), Sherborne Girls (Novice) and Millfield Blue (Beginner) – were presented with their prizes by Claire Reid-Warrilow, director for undergraduate recruitment at Sommet Education, a hospitality education provider, which includes sponsors Glion and its campuses in London and Switzerland.
Also in attendance were Glion UK Masters students, alumni, prospective parents and other school representatives.
Speaking after the event, Claire said: “It was an absolutely fantastic day and wonderful to see so many independent schools represented and giving their students an opportunity to play polo in such a prestigious setting.”
