The Independent Association for Prep Schools (IAPS) is launching a not-for-profit consultancy to support the changing needs of schools.
The service — Consultancy@IAPS — will address all aspects of life in prep schools, ranging from strategic, financial, and curriculum planning to marketing, extra-curricular development, mentoring, and appraisals.
The announcement comes as IAPs prepares for its annual conference this week in Bournemouth, which has the theme “Emerging with Ambition”.
Initially available for its 663 UK and international member schools, the consultancy will bring together experts from across the education sector and external businesses.
These include executive search and recruitment firm Odgers Berndtson which will advise on new senior leadership and headship appointments — a key focus for the consultancy in the first few months of the new school year.
Over 40 consultants have been appointed, with others lined up. All consultants have been accredited through The University of Buckingham and will offer bespoke advice on the changes schools need to make to adapt to a post-Covid education environment.
The launch comes not long after the Boarding Schools’ Association launched Hieda, a body dedicated to supporting schools on health and well-being matters.
Christopher King, chief executive officer of IAPS, said: “We are proud to be launching a service which offers schools such varied and specialist support as they enter the new school year and adjust their strategies to an ever-shifting education landscape.
“Working with external consultants such as Odgers Berndtson allows Consultancy@IAPS to provide schools with fresh perspectives, while our host of advisers from within the education sector bring a lifetime of experience to the table. We are excited to see how this unique offering benefits schools throughout the year.”
Peter Lawrence, partner, schools practice at Odgers Berndtson, said: “We are committed to appointing the highest calibre leaders who provide the right match for each school and their communities. We strongly believe it is more important than ever to hire the best talent to lead schools through this challenging time, and we are excited to be a part of this endeavour.”
